Best WhatsApp Expense Tracking Bots in 2026: How to Choose

A few years ago, tracking expenses in WhatsApp was a novelty. In 2026 there are dozens of bots doing it, and they differ more than their landing pages suggest. Some are full finance assistants, some are a thin layer over a spreadsheet, and some are built for one country.

This guide covers five options you'll run into, what each says it does, and the questions that decide which one fits you. Competitor details come from each company's own website in September 2026. Features and prices change, so check before you sign up.

What to look for in a WhatsApp expense bot

Before comparing names, decide what you actually need. These five questions separate the options quickly:

  1. How do you want to log? Text only, or also voice notes and receipt photos?
  2. Where do you live and spend? Some bots are built for one country and currency. If you travel or earn in another currency, multi-currency support matters.
  3. Do you want bank sync? Some tools connect to your bank; others never ask for bank credentials.
  4. Do you share money with someone? Look for shared budgets, and check whether the tool splits bills or only shows who spent what.
  5. What happens beyond logging? Budgets and alerts, savings goals, reminders for bills, reports and exports.

POQT

POQT is a finance assistant that lives entirely in WhatsApp. You log by text, voice note or photo, and it works in any currency and language.

  • Logging: text ("I spent $53.90 on Uber today"), voice notes, and photos of receipts or payment confirmations. Several expenses fit in one message: "Uber $53.90, lunch $32.00, coffee $8.00".
  • Budgets and alerts: set a budget per category ("Set a $1,200 budget for food") and POQT warns you when you reach 80% of it, a threshold you can change.
  • Beyond logging: income, credit cards with closing and due dates, recurring bills, savings goals, reminders, a 0–100 Financial Health Score and a virtual pet that rewards consistency.
  • Sharing: a family group for up to four people, where each member can see what everyone spent. POQT doesn't calculate splits or settle debts.
  • Bank sync: none, by design. POQT never asks for bank credentials.
  • Reports: charts in the chat, a web dashboard, and exports to Excel, CSV or PDF.
  • Price: 7-day free trial, then $4/month, or $29/year (about $2.42/month).

Moneko

Moneko is a budgeting app for iOS, Android and the web that also has a WhatsApp assistant. According to its site, you can log by text, voice, receipt photos, forwarded email receipts and WhatsApp. It offers envelope-style "Pockets", personal and household modes, shared expense splitting, and bank connection through Plaid for US and Canadian accounts.

Good fit if: you want a full app with bank sync and bill splitting, and WhatsApp as one of several ways in.

Expensebit

Expensebit is a WhatsApp-only assistant built for India. Its site lists logging by text, voice (English and Hinglish) and receipt or UPI screenshots, bill splitting with friends, budgets, and a web dashboard. It describes itself as free during beta.

Good fit if: you're in India, pay with UPI and want to split bills with friends.

ExpenseTracker.io

ExpenseTracker.io is a WhatsApp bot that writes your expenses into a Google Sheet you own. Its site lists a free plan limited to 7 expenses a month and paid plans from $3/month.

Good fit if: you already live in Google Sheets and mostly want a faster way to add rows.

Spentoro

Spentoro describes itself as a WhatsApp AI assistant for tracking expenses through conversation, with spending insights and receipt scanning.

Good fit if: you want a simple conversational tracker. Check its site for current pricing and availability in your country.

A note on Spendr

Spendr was a WhatsApp money assistant. Its site now says it has been acquired and is no longer developed on its own, so it isn't a safe choice for new users. See our Spendr alternative guide.
